Often, when a child arrives at Tikva, it’s like they are entering another world. From the poverty-stricken and dangerous streets of Ukraine, the warm, loving homes of Tikva are worlds away for these once abandoned vulnerable children.
Six-year-old Anna* was found by Tikva’s Search and Rescue Team during lockdown, in a tiny village in the Nikolaev region of Ukraine. Her mother, an alcoholic had stopped caring for her daughter entirely. Her mother’s boyfriend became increasingly abusive towards Anna. Food was scarce. There was no electricity or running water in their home. Anna was left completely alone most days and nights. When Tikva found Anna, she was extremely frightened and malnourished. She could not make eye contact with others and communication was almost impossible.
With your support, Tikva can change the worlds of the thousands of abandoned, abused & neglected Jewish children, giving them a future they deserve. Together we can help change their world.
